Parafilm® and other film sealants are ideal for sealing and protecting most containers including beakers, flasks, tubes, dishes, and basins. Consider the following tips when using Parafilm. Make sure your sealant is sterile and clean. Cole-Parmer ships Parafilm and other sealants sterile and ready for laboratory use but often the film can be exposed to impurities in the lab. Using one of our Parafilm dispensers is also recommended. Next you should periodically check to make sure your sealant hasn't begun to slowly come unglued or erode. Remember, unstable organic compounds can dissolve Paraflim. If you see this, replace your sealant film immediately. Cole Parmer’s own Plastic Wrap made with 100% polyethylene and aluminum foil in 18” rolls are perfect for freezer storage, wrapping, sealing, autoclaving, lining, and transferring samples. Parafilm is no doubt a great resource just be mindful of maintenance.
