PTFE tape is popular among industrial workers because of its versatility and strength. But the more common use of the item sometimes called “plumber’s tape,” is for the threaded fitting that allows potable and non-portable water as well as chemicals such as oxygen, gas, hydraulic to pass through high pressure lines. When choosing PTFE tape it’s good to check with its temperature temperament as well as its chemical resistance. Cole-Parmer offers PTFE tape for threading that can withstand temperatures from -450 to 550 F° (-267-287 C°) and can stretch to double its size without breaking. There are plenty of other tapes availabe as well including electrical tape, duct tape and vinyle tape and "write on tape," that makes it easier to take notes. PTFE tape remains a popular item for any industrial or laboratory setting.
