  • Q:

With such sensitive measurement - doesn't oxygen immediately flood the aqueous sample to distort the reading when open to the atmosphere? Or do you have enough time to get some sensible results before equilibration?

      A:

This test is designed to be used with a flowing sample so that oxygen doesn't have a chance to invade the sample. The most critical part of any dissolved oxygen test is sampling. The sample stream must be completely leak-free. To accomplish
this, the sampling tube is vertically mounted with a tube of inert material connecting the sample point to the bottom of the sampling tube.

  • Q:

    Hi,
I was wondering if this kit could be used for testing a solution that was not completely aqueous, like 1x PBS or a pharmaceutical drug product solution?

      A:

It depends on if the pharmaceutical would interfere with the chemistry or not. Which we have not tested. This is an economical choice that could be tested, as it is more likely the drug would clog the membrane on a standard DO probe. If wanted you may request the manual and technical specification sheet to see if you any of the known interferences are present in your sample to start. Please contact us by email for further information.

  • Q:

I have old CHEMets DO kits with blue vials. Do you have refills for the blue indicator? Or do I need to by the pink kits?
Asked on 9/29/2010 by Anonymous from Weyauwega Wisconsin

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The 40 ppb test kit has always had a pink colored indicator. The blue indicator was for a higher range (part number: 05540-40), and the refill kit for that product is part number: 05540-41.
