    • Q:

I want to know the compatibility of this tube with some specific solvents: strong ammonia solution and isopropyl alcohol.
Asked on 8/12/2014 by Tania from Austin, TX

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

The CFLEX tubing is compatible with the ammonia solution. For the isopropyl alcohol it would be recommended that you test this before using to ensure the best chemical compatibility,.

Answered on 8/12/2014 by Jose from Technical Support
    • Q:

You mentioned the gas permeability of the C-Flex tubing with oxygen to be 150. Presumably, that's in (x10-11) cc • cm / cm2 • s • cmHg (amount of gas (cm3) x tubing wall thickness (cm) ÷ surface area of tubing ID (cm2) x time (seconds) x pressure drop across tubing wall (cmHg)). What is the gas permeability of the C-Flex tubing with Nitrogen and CO2?
Asked on 7/24/2014 by am304 from UK

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

Unfortunately there is no data for the gas permeability for N2 or CO2.

Answered on 7/24/2014 by Jose from Technical Support
    • Q:

What is the accuracy of the dimensions of the tubing? I am mostly interested in the inner cross section area.
Asked on 4/3/2014 by Blomman from Sweden

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

The internal diameter has a tolerance of +/- 0.12".

Answered on 4/3/2014 by Polo from Technical Support
    • Q:

What is the composition material of this C-FLEX tube?
      is it of silicone?
Asked on 8/21/2013 by Maurício from Rio de Janeiro, RJ

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

C-Flex is a proprietary thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). The product is not made of Silicone.

Answered on 8/21/2013 by Jack from Technical Support
    • Q:

What is the pH range that this tubing can handle best?
Asked on 7/12/2013 by Lab from United States

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

C-Flex tubing is described as having good resistance to acids and alkalies. Most of the chemicals that affect this tubing are organic solvents.

Answered on 7/12/2013 by Jack from Technical Support
    • Q:

Can C-Flex tubing be used in peristaltic pumps? If so what is the lifetime
      Asked on 7/19/2012 by Jason

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

Yes, C-Flex is soft enough to be used in peristaltic pumps. The life is similar to standard platinum-cured and peroxide-cured silicone compositions - about 500 hours at 50 rpm with water under ambient temperature and pressure conditions. This is the only rpm and temp/pressure data we have for life studies.

Answered on 7/19/2012 by Jen from Technical Support
    • Q:

Is this product's gas permeability lower than silicone tubing? I want to use this in a pressurized system (the medium is air).
Asked on 6/13/2011 by KT from Dallas, Tx

      1 answer

      • Staff Reviewer

        A:

The oxygen gas permeability is 150 for all C-Flex compositions. Most silicone compositions have a permeability around 8000. So, yes C-Flex has a lower oxygen permeability by far.

    • Q:

What is the durometer of this tubing?
Asked on 6/13/2011 by KT from Dallas, Tx

      1 answer

      • Staff Reviewer

        A:

The durometer and (shore) is 62 (A).

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

Yes, Clear C-Flex tubing is heat-sealable, bondable and formable like the opaque version of C-Flex.

    • Q:

Do you have an literature that contains the following information: Whether or not the product is autoclavable, pressure test info and animal derived info.
      Asked on 6/30/2010 by Anonymous

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

On the right hand side of the page under the literature is the catalog page. This states that it is autoclavable and lists the pressure information. We do have animal derived documentation, however you will need to contact us in order to receive a copy of this certification.
Our contact information is found under the Contact Us section on our website.
