      A:

There are many compatible pump heads (Standard, Easy-Load, Easy-Load II, Easy-Load 3, Quick Load, High Performance, Cartridge, Multichannel, PTFE Tubing, PTFE Diaphragm), which one is suggested will depend upon your application. I will email you directly with further questions in order to make a recommendation.

  • Q:

What is the maximun particle size that can pass through this unit?
    Asked on 3/6/2013 by Ryk

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Particle size would be dependent on the size of the tubing and the type of particulate. Generally, we recommend that hard particulates not exceed 5% of the inner tubing diameter; while soft particulates are recommended not to exceed 25" of the tubing internal diameter.

  • Q:

Is there any way (say via software update) to get the digital display light to turn off? The pumps are in a dark growth chamber, so currently I must cover the display with cardboard, but being able to turn the display back lighting off would be better.
Asked on 3/15/2011 by Joe from Woods Hole, MA

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Currenlty there is not a software update that allows the backlight to be turned off. I have made the engineers aware of the request; perhaps this will be an option in a future update.

  • Q:

Is this drive compatible with the old pump head HV-07518-10 and mounting R-07013-08 & 09?
We have an older model drive 7550-20, with above pump heads, considering buying another drive, & 3 pump heads, want to make sure they are compatible so can be switched either 2, 3 or 4 pump heads between the 2 drive units
Asked on 1/17/2011 by QT from Franklin, MA

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Yes, this drive could handle up to 4 of the 07518-10 pump heads; both units accept the L/S style heads.
Hardware to mount the heads will depend upon the number of heads being mounted. The mounting hardware can be found under "accessories" on the 07518-10 product page.

  • Q:

Is there any encoder to control flow, duration by computer ? Can we use continuous tubing ?

    Thanks
Asked on 9/30/2010 by Yuss from Sherbrooke, Canada

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

The computer compatible version of this drive is part number 07551-10. The overall length of tubing will depend upon the size and composition chosen. Please contact our technical application specialists for additional assistance (contact information can be found in the "contact us" section on the web page).

  • Q:

With the 07523-90 drive, what size Chem-Sure tubing do I need for flows of 0-100mL?
    Asked on 7/30/2010 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Size 25 will give you a flowrange of .033 to 170 mL/min. I suggest an EasyLoad style head like 77800-60 as well. If you have special pressure requirements or any special circumstances please contact us by phone or email for further assistance and alternative suggestions. Contact information may be found under "Contact/About Us."

  • Q:

As you stack on more pump heads to this drive, does the maximum flow rate per pump head decrease? If so, by how much? i.e. if four pump heads are added, can there still be a delivered flow rate of 4 x 3.4 L/min?
    Asked on 1/19/2010 by Johnny

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The speed of the drive is not reduced by the addition of pump heads, therefore the flow remains the same per channel.

Looking for a pump capable of 1.54gal/wk to 7.56gal/wk of FeCl3
Asked on 10/30/2009 by Dolver from McClellan Ca

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Yes, the minimum flow for this pump is .001mL/min and your range is 0.578mL/min-2.84mL/min. This flow range would be comfortably covered using L/S size 13 tubing. Please contact us for further discussion regarding chemical compatibility of tubing and head.

Comments about Masterflex<reg> L/S<reg> Digital Drive, 100 RPM, 115/230 VAC:

I had the same trouble as the previous reviewer until I re-scaled my 4-20mA input. When the signal was scaled with a maximum pump capacity of 6 mL/min, the 4-20 input was too close to zero to work well. Once I re-scaled the input to be between 0 and 0.5 mL/min, I got great accuracy at lower flows. I'm finding that so long as the pump has the right tubing and is either in local mode or the 4-20mA input is scaled right, I can accurately dose as low as 0.02 mL/min.
