    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The flow rate on this pump can be controlled by varying or restricting the voltage supplied to the pump. There is not a specified minimum flow rate.

is the flow on this pump reversible and will it work in a miniature hydraulic system.
Asked on 10/27/2013 by ronald from temecula ca.

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The pump flow is reversible, and it could work in a miniature hydraulic system, so long as the hydraulic fluid is compatible with the pump.

    Hi
Will this work for drain out the waste for chemical solvent like Paraffin, Alcohole

    Thanks
    Kishor
Asked on 4/3/2013 by Kishor from Hyderabad, India

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The solvents listed would not be compatible with the Buna-N seals in the pump. Use with these chemicals may also require the use of an intrinsically safe or explosion-proof pump. Please contact our technical department for further discussion regarding this procedure.

  • Q:

I am looking to use this pump in a student unmanned submersible project to move water for ballast. If the power shuts off will water flow through the pump? Do I need a valve to prevent water flowing through the pump when it's not in operation?

    Thanks,
    Nate
Asked on 10/17/2012 by Nate from Baltimore, MD

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Unit is not water tight, not recommended to be submersed in any fluid.
A check valve on the outlet may be needed to prevent back-flow.

  • Q:

can this pump handle both methanol/nitromethane mix as well as gasoline? I know it is not rated for flammable liquids, however this is used in an outdoor, open environment.
Asked on 9/17/2012 by Jeff from Virginia

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The Buna N (nitrile) from the wetted materials list is not compatible with the nitromethane component, so we do not recommend using this pump with that mixture. The electronics are not sealed, so there is a spark hazard. Even in an outdoor environment we would not suggest using this pump with a source of flammable vapors nearby.

Comments about Miniature gear pump, 0.67 GPM (2520 mL/min), 12 VDC lab model:

I am using it to circulate hot water in home.
Connected with PEX tubing that fits the barb fitting and standard 3/8 compression fitting.

It has stalled, jammed, or failed to start pumping at 6volts but seems very reliable to start at 8 volts and up. The motor got very hot when it stalled, but fortunately did not burn out. It seems to be built very robust.

Impressed with the pressure output and inlet draw.

The only negative is the noise level.
Have not measured the decibels, but an irritating rather loud hum at the speed I chose to run it.

Good value, well performing and satisfied purchase.

I use the product for an anaerobic bioreactor. The pump works great, and is incredibly durable. The pump can be connected to a variable power supply and control the flow rate.
