This lighweight portable freezer was developed to bring ultra-low -86°C temperature storage to places conventional compressor freezers cannot go or won’t work. It offers secure mobile transport of biological specimens. Ideal for use within biorepositories, and other applications associated with pharmaceutical distribution.

Operating on a stirling engine, the freezer requires no compressors, dry ice, or LN2, and draws the same amount of energy as a conventional light bulb, making it environmentally friendly and cost effective. The Humm™ free-piston stirling engine contains two moving parts that float on helium gas bearings to eliminate contact wear. The linear driver modulates engine power to deliver cooling on demand for straight line control without on/off cycling. Freezing is performed by the thermosiphon evaporator. A microcharge of environmentally friendly cooling medium creates a uniform ultra-low temperature by a continuous process of evaporation and condensation within the sealed tube.

Weather-resistant touchpad controller features a digital temperature display indicating interior temperature and error codes if detected. Temperature preset buttons allow you to quickly choose -20, -40, or -86°C (default at startup); easily raise and lower temperature at 1°C intervals. A system lock indicator confirms system set points are locked and prevents errors or unauthorized adjustment. The over/under-temperature alarm activates visual and audible beep warnings if temperature exceeds set point and silences automatically when set point is restored.

Rugged cabinet design withstands travel inside and outside your facility. Composite vacuum-insulation panels with CFC-free foam strengthen and protect from high ambient temperatures. A double gasket seals the interior chamber enabling the lid to latch and provides dual protection against moisture and heat gain. Inner and outer gaskets are easily replaced in the field without tools. A sub-lid constructed of high-density, closed-cell rigid foam enhances temperature uniformity and provides additional protection when lid is opened. Molded-in handles make the freezer easy to grip and move.

Other features include a slide-out air filter that is easy to remove and clean, and a 1/4" (0.64 cm) access port with stopper.

May not be good for the long haul....

Pros

    Cons

      Best Uses

We use the product to store lab specimens before shipment. I has not been moved or banged around in a mobile setting. It started to run rough and loud 1 week after the 1 year warranty was expired. Not what we expected out of an expensive unit. Trying to work with customer service has been awkward at best. Hope it hangs in there....
