Oakton® pH meter becomes a TV star! | | Oakton pH meter plays major role in solving crime. | The Oakton pH 11 handheld pH meter is wearing sunglasses these days. But we cant tell whether its because of the meters new found celebrity status after appearing in a recent episode of CSI: Miami or its just shading its display from the bright southern Florida sunshine. In episode 24 of this past seasons CSI: Miami (originally aired on May 11th) entitled Dissolved; a hapless man is pushed into a swimming pool that has been unknowingly laced with a deadly agent. The victim screams and appears to boil right before our very eyes. Is it an accident or is it murder? Enter the CSI: Miami crew to find out. With the disfigured body still floating in the water, Travers has set up a poolside mobile laboratory. While Delko and Duquesne look on, he determines that a caustic agent not an acid has been added to the pool and that the crime-solving team must neutralize the pH before they can safely remove the body. Working with the guest starring Oakton pH 11 and electrode, Dequesne measures the pH of the swimming pool, while Delko pours gallon after gallon of acidic vinegar into it to neutralize the killer chemical. The meter is shown reading over a period of accelerated time as the pH of pool drops from near 13.00 through 9.00 until it finally displays a pH of 7.00. Dequesne acknowledges, Alright the pH is 7. Its perfectly neutral. Its safe to get the body out.
