Why Use Platinum-Cured Silicone Tubing?

Pump tubing

For pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications platinum-cured silicone tubing is an exceptional choice for fluid transfer. It offers high temperature resistance and fewer potential leachables. Silicone provides excellent biocompatibility and chemical inertness to maintain the purity of sensitive fluids. This tubing also has smooth surfaces and lower protein binding levels.

When used in a Masterflex® peristaltic pump, platinum-cured silicone tubing delivers optimal performance. It is resistant to tearing and kinking.

Masterflex tubing is manufactured to extremely close tolerances that ensure accurate, repeatable flow and long tubing life. It is factory-tested and optically inspected.

This platinum-cured silicone tubing has slightly better clarity than peroxide-cured tubing. Flow ranges are approximate—calculated under the following conditions: 0 psig at inlet, 0.5 psig at outlet; water temperature at 72°F (22°C). Actual performance varies depending on tubing formulation—silicone is only recommended for applications with 10 psig (0.7 bar) backpressure or less.
