Q: could you use this product to check the PH of Zinc plating baths? With a range between 0 and 2.5? Asked on 1/25/2010 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: We suggest using a double junction probe for your type of application. This unit only has a single junction. You may want to look at a unit like 35634-10 instead. Answered on 1/25/2010 by Jen from Technical Support
Q: Can we use it to measure pH value of Cirvical mucus Asked on 12/28/2009 by Diwakar from India Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: The probe must be completely covered to produce an accurate reading, plus we do not suggest a single junction type probe for biological sample testing. You may want to look into an ISFET type probe or a spear tip that will require less sample volume. Please contact our technical application specialists for additional assistance (contact information can be found on the product web page). Answered on 12/29/2009 by Jen from Technical Support
Q: Can I use buffer solutions with pH's of 3, 6, and 9 to calibrate this meter? Asked on 12/21/2009 by Anonymous from Las Cruces, NM Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: This unit will only accept pH4, pH7, and pH10 buffers for calibration. Answered on 12/23/2009 by Josh from Technical Support
Q: What other products do I need to buy with this meter? I want to calibrate the meter regularly (it will be used for home canning and catering purposes). Asked on 11/24/2009 by SJJ from Ontario, Canada Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: We would recommend purchasing pH buffers to calibrate this meter. Please see part numbers 35653-04 (pouches of pH buffer in 4, 7, and 10) or 05942-10 (500 mL bottles of pH buffer in 4, 7, and 10). We recommend calibrating this meter each time before you use it (daily) to a pH of 7 first and then depending upon what range you will read, either 4 or 10 as well. (calibrate to 4 if you suspect your measurement to be lower than 7 and calibrate to 10 if you suspect your measurement to be higher than 7) If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to call us at the number listed on our website under the contact us section. Answered on 11/25/2009 by Jaime from Technical Support
Q: Can this unit be used to measure the pH of a cyanide or alkaline (acid) based gold plating solution... ie, would the solutions I'm testing harm the unit? Asked on 11/13/2009 by GlennT from El Paso, Texas Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: being a single junction probe, we do not suggest this simple be used for such complex solutions as it would clog the junction quickly. Please contact our technical application specialists for additional assistance (contact information can be found on the product web page). Answered on 11/17/2009 by Jen from Technical Support

Q: Is the electrode of this product replaceable or not? Asked on 10/22/2009 by ann Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: The probe is not replaceable, you would need to replace the whole unit. Answered on 10/22/2009 by Jen from Technical Support
Q: what is the shelf life of the electrode? what is the part # of replaceable pH Electrode Asked on 10/19/2009 by ann from philippines Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: The shelf life of an unused probe will vary depending on the environment that it is stored in. They may dry out and become slow to respond over time, they should be fine to go without use for several months. The life of a probe that is used constantly should be around 12-18 months. Please contact us directly for any further assistance. Answered on 10/21/2009 by Jen from Technical Support
Q: What maitenance solution is needed? Asked on 10/14/2009 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: There is not a maintenance solution that is needed, but you do need calibration solutions. Which calibration solutions you need will depend on the range you are testing in. For measurements between 4 and 7, you will need pH 4 and 7 buffered calibration solution. For measurements between 7 and 10, you should use 7 and 10 solutions. If you will over the entire range you may want to purcahse all three. Please contact our technical application specialists for additional assistance (contact information can be found on the product web page). Answered on 10/14/2009 by Jen from Technical Support

Q: What about soil testing ? Asked on 7/21/2009 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: Generally pH probes, like the one on this unit, need an aqueous environment to take a pH reading. To test the pH of a more solid material you may want ot look into an ISFET meter and probe pH system. Please contact our technical application specialists for additional assistance (contact information can be found on the product web page). Answered on 7/21/2009 by Jen from Technical Support A: You can use a glass pH meter to make measurements of soil, but an established procedure needs to be created. You would take a specific amount of DI water (or distilled) and mix it with a specific weight of dried soil. For example you would mix 50 ml of DI water with 100 grams of soil and mix well. Then you can take the readings. Pure water will not effect the pH drastically. It is important to use the same procedure when comparing samples and results. Q: Could this meter be used to accurately measure the acidity of sushi rice or is it strictly used for liquids? Asked on 7/17/2009 by Hazel from New York, NY Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: To determine the pH accurately of solid objects I suggest using an ISFET type pH meter and probe. For more information, please type "ISFET" into the search box. Or, for a simple ISFET probe please look at 59541-15. Answered on 7/17/2009 by Jen from Technical Support
