Supplier Shipment Packaging and Labeling Guidelines

General Information
Package Weight Restrictions Although many small parcel carriers have adopted a 150 lb. weight limit per carton, we request that you do not exceed 70 lbs. per carton. Unit loads and palletized loads may exceed this, but must be properly palletized as specified in this document.
Serial Numbers Where applicable, the serial number must be clearly visible on the outside of the supplier primary stock-keeping unit (SKU) package. If able to bar code the serial-number follow the fomat identified below.
Lot/Expiration Control We prefer that each shipment of an item have only one (1) lot number and only one (1) expiration date code if applicable. If this is not achievable, you must discuss this with the Purchasing representative.
Packing List Requirements
Required Information
- To ensure the efficient receipt of your shipment, all shipments must include a Packing List and have the P.O. clearly marked on the outside of the boxes.
- Line items on the packing list must be in the same order as on the P.O.
- The Packing Lists must include the following information:
- Purchase Order Number (with release number on blanket P.O.'s).
- Item Number (Our Item numbers are cross-referenced on our P.O.'s).
- Your Part Number.
- The Quantity Ordered.
- The Quantity Shipped.
- The Quantity Backordered.
- The Lot numbers (if applicable, and we have consented to multiple Lot numbers).
- The Expiration dates (if applicable, and we have consented to multiple expiration dates).
- The packing list must be visible.
- It must be enclosed in an envelope marked Packing List.
- It must be attached to the outside of the carton.
- On multiple carton shipments, the packing list must be placed on carton number one.
SKU Level Packaging Requirements
Preparation Requirements
- Instructions and any compliance certification which pertain to a product must be provided within the primary package for the quantity ordered.
- Each SKU must be packaged separately in a bag, box, carton, etc. and be labeled with SKU number as outlined later in this document. Exceptions to this requirement will be addressed individually where needed.
- Do not affix the label in a manner where your part number or other crucial information is blocked from view.
- SKU-level packaging must not include any supplier sales literature, warranty cards, or other information which has not been approved by purchasing.
Parcel Container Requirements
- Each carton must be marked with the PO #
- Multiple carton shipments must be marked as 1 of 2, 2 of 2, etc.
Pallet Requirements
- Multiple carton LTL shipments must be palletized and stretch wrapped.
- Pallet size is restricted to 48" x 40" and product should not exceed these dimensions.
- Pallets must not exceed 56" in height including pallet, with the exception of bulk plasticware which must not exceed 74" including the pallet.
- Multiple pallet shipments must be marked 1 of 2, 2 of 2, etc.
Bar Code Label Specifications
Our automated warehouse management system will streamline our distribution operations, improve inventory accuracy, and increase our customer service levels. We greatly appreciate your cooperation and conformance to the following bar code labeling requirements.
We will be using Code 128. Bar code specifications delineated in the Uniform Symbology Specification Code 128 documentation must be followed explicitly. A brief summary of these specifications is listed below, along with examples of Code 128 bar codes. All of the data element definitions are included in this documentation.

Product Label Specifications
SKU label
- Below this, on the left side, print SKU #.
- To the right of SKU #, print the SKU # in bar-coded form as it exists on the P.O. Maximum to be 10 alpha/numeric characters.
- Below the bar code, print the SKU # in human readable form.
- Below the bar code, print the item description in human readable form.
- To the right side, print the unit of measure (EA, PK, CS) as it exists on the P.O.
- If Applicable Print LOT # and the human readable Lot # for the shipment on the left, and the bar-code on the right.(20 digit alpha / numeric)
