Revolutionizing the Process Pump Market

The innovative, new Masterflex® B/T® pump is years ahead of the industry!

B/T pump The MASTERFLEX B/T was redesigned to handle the toughest applications, from pumping slurries, abrasives, food additives, and media, to corrosive fluids and polymers.

Imagine, a process tubing pump you can load easily with just two hands—a pump you can load correctly for optimum performance the first time, every time!

Sound too good to be true? It was, at least before the MASTERFLEX B/T process pump redesign was introduced.

The MASTERFLEX B/T was redesigned to handle the toughest applications, from pumping slurries, abrasives, food additives, and media, to corrosive fluids and polymers. It was given a cast-aluminum housing with an epoxy-powder coating to eliminate corrosion, and the new pump head was altered so the head cover would swing easily aside to allow SIP or CIP processes while the tubing was in place. Yet the true genius of the redesign lies in the improved loading features.

Like all other process pumps, the original MASTERFLEX B/T was not the easiest beast to tame. When using tubing formulations of 16 gauge or higher, it required two people and three hands to load. And unless the tubing was positioned just right, reducing tubing wear was a constant struggle.

With the new B/T that is no longer an issue. An easy-clasp closure now provides one-handed opening and closing of the pump head, eliminating any chance of the operator over- or under-squeezing the tubing, while improved tubing retention secures tubing firmly in place during the loading process. In addition, a redesigned occlusion mechanism eliminates handwheels and inconvenient thumb levers for quicker tubing changes.

The pump’s performance has been improved in part due to the use of new PerfectPosition™ B/T tubing. This revolutionary new tubing contains tubing retention markings that make it easy to determine where to load the tubing to achieve optimal performance with minimal tubing wear. In addition, a redesigned occlusion bed prevents “tubing roll” during operation, extending tubing life.

The tubing load sequence is a simple, four-step procedure:

  1. Open the pump head and insert tubing into the top retainer.

  2. Align PerfectPosition tubing retention marks as indicated and wrap tubing around the rollers.

  3. Close the pump head once the tubing has been properly positioned.

  4. Secure the clasp to hold the pump head closed.

This new redesigned pump head component is compatible with new B/T pump drives that are suitable for even the most demanding applications—including explosion-proof models for use in hazardous environments.

It is difficult to imagine when a redesign this dramatic and this user-friendly will come along again.
