It’s Not the Heat, It’s the Humidity

Humidity can cause damage in a lab.

Most of us are familiar with high humidity or, in other words, bad hair days. When opening the door to walk out, we feel a rush of thick, steamy air. Weathercasters like to fill us in daily on the heat index, which combines relative humidity and air temperature. But in a lab, humidity may be causing issues without you feeling the steamy air or bad hair.

From a scientific viewpoint, humidity also refers to absolute humidity, which is expressed in grams of water vapor mass within a defined quantity of air. Specific humidity measures absolute humidity relative to total gas mass within this quantity of air.

From the preservation of artistic masterpieces in art institutes to burgeoning levels of dust mites, molds, and bacteria within our homes, our environmental humidity levels matter. For those charged with monitoring humidity levels in workplaces, manufacturing facilities, or really anywhere that humidity is important (which is pretty much anywhere), handheld options are available.

Traceable Thermohygrometer with Clock

This thermohygrometer with clock is the newest Traceable product! The clock displays AM/PM or 24-hour military time to the exact minute with ±0.01% accuracy. Noting changes is easy with triple display. Internal sensors make it ideal for use in hoods, storerooms, cleanrooms, incubators, drying chambers, and environmental cabinets.

Traceable Digital Relative Humidity/Temperature MeterTraceable Digital Relative Humidity/Temperature Meter

This precalibrated humidity and temperature meter is ideal for routine or round-the-clock measurements in quality-control and critical environments. Obtain minimum and maximum temperature and humidity readings in labs, hoods, clean rooms, coolers, stockrooms, incubators, environmental chambers, and chemical storage areas. Monitor conditions overnight, on weekends, or for any time period.

Traceable® Thermohygrometer with Alarm and Calibration

Traceable® Thermohygrometer with Alarm and CalibrationThese thermohygrometers with alarm are perfect for monitoring critical environments during the day, overnight, and weekends. Alarms sound when humidity or temperature conditions rise above or fall below programmed set points.
