Cole-Parmer Donates Toys to Pediatric Program

Today, the Community Action Council and senior leadership from Cole-Parmer delivered 5,000 toys to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, Ill., for their pediatric program. Children who are in need of treatment will receive the items to make their hospital visit feel a bit more like home.

The toys donated included 913 packages of Hot Wheels® cars, 1916 crayon boxes, 1374 coloring books, and 797 packages of socks with non-skid grips. The donations were gathered from Cole-Parmer employees during April in a team competition to see which group of employees could donate the most.

“Our goal was to provide Vista Health System’s pediatric program with about three months of toys. With the results of the toy drive, we actually donated about a seven to eight month supply,” said Wanda McKenny, Director of Human Resources.

The Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan is part of the Vista Health System. According to Lisa Lees, Director of Patient Relations and Community Care Champion, the center’s team strives to answer three questions every day: Did I have the right purpose today? Did I do worthwhile work today? Did I make a difference today?

The toy drive is just one of several charitable efforts planned for the year by the Cole-Parmer Community Action Council.
