PharMed® tubing has been shown to deliver significant benefits for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and diagnostic applications. Here are two examples:

A pharmaceutical manufacturer replaced the group’s silicone tubing with PharMed in a liquid and liquid suspension filling operation. The manufacturer realized significant cost savings by not having to replace the tubing as often and therefore reducing downtime. Because of the consistency of volumetric delivery, the manufacturer does not have to spend time calibrating the pump.

Another pharma manufacturer began using PharMed tubing in a purification process. The process was logging excessive downtime because of spallation associated with the tubing. Particles from the tubing clogged the filters. By substituting PharMed tubing for their existing tubing, the company experienced cost savings from reduced filter usage, along with less downtime and decreased maintenance time.

Its long flex life is one of the main reasons for using PharMed in vessel fill, media flow, and air and gas lines in bioreactor systems. However, lot traceability and heat weldable characteristics are also major pluses. Heat weldability allows a seamless sterile connection of two tubing ends.

PharMed Tubing is also:

  • Repeatedly autoclavable
  • Radiation sterilizable
  • Ozone and UV light resistant
  • Designed to meet USP Class VI and NSF criteria and FDA compliant
