Shipping It? Here’s How to Keep It Safe

You want your shipments to reach their destination safely. Packing the shipment in the correct shippers or shipping materials helps ensure this. Keeping contents at the correct temperature can be another challenge. Here is some guidance:

1) Container Size—Measure shipping content’s length, width, and height on a flat surface. If cold packs are necessary, provide enough space to accommodate. Select the smallest container with inside dimensions that most closely matches the dimensions of your shipment.

2) Shipment Weight—Choose the correct container for the weight of your shipment. Cole-Parmer offers corrugated shippers that can safely hold up to 46 lbs.

3) Shipment Sensitivity—If your shipment is sensitive to temperature or impact, consider packing it in an insulated shipper and then in a standard corrugated box with ample padding.

4) Temperature and Shipment Duration—If your shipment has to remain at a specific temperature, Cole-Parmer offers shippers and cold packs that will keep it at any temperature from –58 to 32°F (–50 to 0°C). Maintain temperatures down to –109°F (–78°C) with dry ice. Use our economical shippers for short overnight shipments and our extra-thick shippers for lengthier shipment times.
