Not everyone knows a lot about frequency inverters and how to vary the speed of large centrifugal pumps. Our technical support expert Katie does. Katie answers technical calls and has become quite adept at responding to inverter duty motor questions.
Yet, her favorite solution involved not a pump but a temperature controller. When a customer’s temperature controller was reading incorrectly, Katie spent an hour troubleshooting possible resolutions. With the controller reading 50 degrees off, she knew to check all the settings. After cycling through these, she realized what the problem was: the meter was set to a Type J thermocouple rather than the appropriate Type K. Issue resolved.
With a background in bioengineering, Katie likes solving technical puzzles. “Many times a customer will call in looking for an adapter and it takes multiple fittings to get the correct connection,” she said. “When you connect rigid tubing to flexible tubing, you need to include a threaded adapter in between. Answering fittings questions is like solving a puzzle.”
Besides solving puzzles, Katie enjoys reality TV (she admits it) and wandering the big city of Chicago.
