Are you losing direction when controlling flow?

See how Cole-Parmer in India helped a world leader in biological solutions control the dosing flow in their research phase.

Customer

A world leader in bioinnovation and the largest supplier of industrial enzymes and microorganisms in India, catering to the detergent, food, feed, textile, leather, oils & fats, and beverage alcohol industries.

Challenge

The customer is into developing oil splitting enzymes that can be used to extract the low-density oil and hydrocarbons present in the effluent water discharge. The untreated waters could have significant environmental impacts and wastage of oil. The customer was required to dose minimalistic volume of Methanol into their barrels at a regulated interval of time, during their research phase. Accuracy and lack of automated program were other challenges along with the slow flow rate, with their existing syringe pump. Since the flow rate was very small, the customer was not able to achieve the desired accuracy with their existing syringe pump system also they could not set the program for the entire day.

Solution

The customer approached Cole-Parmer for a solution, looking for a syringe pump with slow flow rates. Cole-Parmer application expert Pavithra Manayil collaborated with the customer and offered 4 channel Masterflex Ismatec Reglo ICC pump system along with tubing of ID as low as 0.51mm for repeatable results, instead of a syringe pump.

Benefit to the Customer

The multi-channel peristaltic pump allowed the customer to individually control the flow and direction of each channel from the intuitive keypad or via computer, which expanded the benchtop pumping capabilities with a single compact unit. Plus, independent channel calibration minimized tube-to-tube differences, resulting in high calibration accuracy. The customer also saved cost by buying one 4-channel pump, in place of buying 4 syringe pumps, saving cost as well as footprint.

About the Masterflex Ismatec Reglo ICC Pump

The Masterflex Ismatec Reglo ICC Pump allows you to pump each channel at different speeds and directions—the best choice for small-volume dispensing. It can pump at flow rates of 0.0001 to 43 mL/min (depending upon model and tubing size selected). Each pump performs the job of up to four separate pumps. These multi-channel peristaltic pumps let you individually control the flow and direction of each channel from the intuitive keypad or via your computer—expanding your benchtop pumping capabilities with a single compact unit! These pumps deliver continuous pumping or precision dispensing up to 43 mL/min with the capability of bidirectional flow in each channel. Plus, independent channel calibration minimizes tube-to-tube differences, resulting in high calibration accuracy across all channels.
