Comments about Cole-Parmer Console drive; 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz:

Reading some of the reviews, I am surprised this is still being sold. It is very badly designed. I too had the same problem of a fuse blowing. Upon closer inspection with one of the guys from our University work shop we noted the carbon from the brushes where covering the circuit board and the circuit board was totally unprotected from this. I had to replace the circuit board. We bought a second pump, as a back up and when it arrived it didn't work. I am spending more time trying to fix this pump than doing experiments with it!

I purchased one of these in 2003 and it is still working over the past 10 years. My pump was made in the USA in 2003. I see the new machines are made in China.

We're on the second one of these in our lab, the first one broke inexplicably and now the grad student using it doesn't want to push it above 1/3 power on the dial setting for fear of making the second one break.

Comments about Cole-Parmer Console drive; 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz:

We experienced same issue as the two others already reported. After 6 months of use it blew a fuse and following the replacement fuse it would operated at a single high speed and blow a subsequent fuse replacement. Just sent it in for service - 8-14 days plus shipping time. Good thing it comes with 2 year warranty.

Comments about Cole-Parmer Console drive; 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz:

Interesting that Cole-Parmer has not had any other complaints regarding this drive than that of Reclamation Man. I submitted a query to C-P tech support several months ago about this drive that first blew a fuse. After the fuse was replaced, the speed control would not work, the motor would spin at a single, high speed. I never received a response from C-P. So, count this as the second report of this drive blowing a fuse for no apparent reason and then not working properly afterward.

Comments about Cole-Parmer Console drive; 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz:

The first one we had worked great, lasted a very long time, the second and third both blew their fuse for no apparent reason after a few months. replace the fuse it blows in about 1-second. motor turns free and no apparent problems with brushes, etc...

Disappointing for what would be a very nice magnetic-coupled pump drive at this price.

Does the magnetic drive allow the pumps to "Dead Head" or stall out against a closed valve?

        • Q:

I have a micropump head model 73003-14 which is rated to 250 F / 120 C. I need a drive, but I see this console drive is rated only to 104 F / 40 C. I need to pump an 80 C fluid. Is this drive sufficiently insulated from the pump head that I can use it for this application?
Asked on 2/11/2015 by Mike C. from Freeport, TX

          1 answer

          • STAFF EXPERT

            A:

Depending on the drive, the pump head is sufficiently insulated from the drive. However, some systems have a lower system maximum temperature.

Do you happen to have replacement motors for this pump and or brush kits for the motor?

          • STAFF EXPERT

            A:

The replacement motor brushes for this drive would be 07520-04. Replacement of the motor would require the unit to be sent back to Cole-Parmer. Please feel free to contact our applications department for further information on this process.

This is a gear pump drive only; when used with one of the A-mount pump heads it is ideal for pumping oil and other viscous fluids.

What are the size of tubing ? ( input-output )

Is this pump resistant to ozone dissolved in water ? (ozone concentration 10ppm)

This is a specialized pump drive designed for small gear pump heads. You will likely want a much larger pump for 1-50 LPM, such as part number: 75800-33.

I have this kind of pump in the lab, model:75211-15, 50-5000 RPM.
I would like to know what is the gap between the gears in this model.

            A:

The part number you listed is for the pump drive, and the gears you're wondering about are inside the pump head. We would need the part number of the pump head in order to answer this query. Please contact our technical application specialists for additional assistance (contact information can be found in the "contact us" section on the web page).
