Comments about Cole-Parmer Stopcocks with Luer Connections; 3-way; male lock, Non-sterile:

These valves crack and leak liquid when attaching tubing and/or turning the valve during use. Since they do not look like the valve in the photo (they are actually made of clear purple plastic and have white valves), I believe that this product has been replaced by one made of inferior material (see previous post by CS).

Comments about Cole-Parmer Stopcocks with Luer Connections; 3-way; male lock, Non-sterile:

(These are not as pictured but have been replaced by an inferior product!) These crack and then leak fluid after 1 to several months of normal, easy use and have to be replaced. They crack at the juncture with the turn-valve, but these valves have to be turned to use the product properly, of course. We use typical physiological salines at room temperature, nothing harsh. As in another review here, we were looking for the blue-handled, clear plastic ones because those are sturdy and withstand several years of easy use. Instead, these are white-handled, purplish-clear plastic like the ones we were trying to replace because of cracking and subsequent leakage.

Comments about Cole-Parmer Stopcocks with Luer Connections; 3-way; male lock, Non-sterile:

I set up the stopcock to quickly switch between mobile phase lines for an LCMS system. Unfortunately, the organics pumped through the lines weakened the polycarbonate (PC) valve piece. I should have checked if the PC parts were compatible with the liquids. Next time I'll try the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)and polypropylene (PP)stopcock.

what is the chemical compatibility with sodium hydroxide, 1 Normal, or 10%?

do you have a 4 way valve that has good compatibility with 10% Sodium Hydroxide? the weld is the weak point.

            • STAFF EXPERT

              A:

There is no data for the 10% NaOH solution, but for 25% NaOH, this stopcock is shows excellent compatibility (up until 48C).

For a 4 way valve, the item 30600-04 has the same type of connections as the 30600-02. There are also 30600-04 & 30600-12, which have Luer fittings and large-bore stopcocks respectively.

You cannot connect this stopcock directly to tubing without an adapter. The largest tubing recommend to connect to a luer fitting is 1/4" ID, which would require a 45501-20 adapter.
