Comments about None Digital Ultrasonic Drum Level Gauge; Battery Powered:

This product has been upgraded for longer battery life (up to a year). While the 15% glass filled PBT housing material is not capable of being run over by an earth-mover, it is robust enough for 55 gallon drum level measurement. It is an instrument, and should not be dropped, installed with a Pipe wrench.......or otherwise abused....and it will treat the user well. It also now has a 4-20mA option (24V power supply) with switch point(s).

Will this work with Phosphoric Acid or Ferric Chloride?
It appears that the unit does not come in contact with the fluid in the drum. Will the fumes in the drum affect it?

          • STAFF EXPERT

            A:

The wetted materials of this unit are 304 and 316 SS. Both of these materials have a D or severe effect when in contact with Phospohoric Acid or Ferric Chloride which means we would not recommend using this for your application.

          • STAFF EXPERT

            A:

The wetted materials are 304/316 SS, glass-filled PBT, and HDPE. HDPE does not appear to be compatible with Toluene. You can view the chemical compatibility from the chart under the technical resources section to determine if these materials are compatible. It is not recommended to poke holes in the unit.

There is no zero function. It cannot read out in distance, and will automatically calculate volume based on drum size.

Hi I have drum reconditioning business. Can I use this devise to check if my drums leak. At the moment I am using the hydro test method whereby I fill the drum with air and submerge in water to check for leaks. This method is time consuming and a wet process. Can I fill a drum with air and check with your devise if it leaks?

This is only going to get the level of any fluid that is inside the barrel so I do not think this is will work for your application.

        • Q:

The specifications mention that every 5 minutes it reads level. Does this mean that only every 5 minutes will you get an accurate reading? I would like to use this product to fill the barrel and stop when full, will this product give me the full indication when the actual barrel is full (not after 5 minutes)?

          • STAFF EXPERT

            A:

The display shows the level from the last time the Refresh button was pressed. it monitors the level for 7 seconds and then displays the level. This reading remains static until the next press of the Refresh button. The reading remains displayed for 5 minutes before the display turns off.

          • STAFF EXPERT

            A:

This is a non-contact gauge and is suitable for any fluid. The mounting is designed for a 2" thread so ideally the container has this or you would need to supply an adapter suitable for the container you are using.
