More About this Item

Determine the melting point ranges of crystalline as well as powdered and polymeric materials before your eyes. The process of melting samples to determine purity can now be viewed, magnified, and recorded in real-time, with on-screen viewing capabilities provided by a CCD camera and monitor. A slide with 5 mg of desired sample is heated by a round furnace and subject to user defined heating profiles. A photosensitive infrared device is used, in the automatic mode, to detect the beginning and the end of the melting point range. In the manual operating mode the user selects the start and end of the melting point range by manually selecting the desired function keys.
The apparatus offers a built-in safety feature that will shut off the unit if the melting point reaches 315°C or if no melting points are detected 15°C above the expected melting point. Precision temperature control allows for reproducible melting point results (within 1%).
