Cabinets are specially designed with cell researchers in mind, while also providing protection from hazardous particulates such as agents that require biosafety level 1, 2, or 3 containment. Laminar flow cabinets are designed to discharge HEPA-filtered exhaust air directly into the laboratory. Filter monitoring system uses an electronically commutated motor (ECM) to precisely control airflow without the need for airflow sensors. The motor is programmed to consistently deliver the precise volume of air required, even as filters load. The ECM consumes up to 60% less energy than conventional motors.
All contaminated ducts are under or surrounded by negative pressure. The negative pressure plenums capture any contamination, and force the air through the HEPA filter, preventing its escape into the laboratory. Supply and exhaust HEPA filters are 99.99% efficient.
Angled, tempered safety glass sash with counterbalanced, antiracking mechanism is sloped at 10° for closer, more comfortable viewing than vertical sashes offer. The sash may be fully closed when the cabinet is not in use. Large 21.7" (54 cm) sash opening height and 27.0" (69 cm) viewing height offer greater viewing area and easy access for loading and cleaning. LCD information center is mounted on the interior right side wall in the user’s line of sight for at-a-glance monitoring of cabinet conditions. Unobstructed work area includes a hermetically sealed type 304 stainless steel liner and removable stamped, one-piece dished work surface with lift knobs. Contain-Air™ negative pressure channel draws air in, preventing loss of containment at the top of the sash.
Cabinets featuring the Scope-Ready™ package allow a user-supplied microscope to be integrated into the cabinet. the Pure-Vu Seal™ is a flexible, chemical-resistant, clear eyepiece seal that prevents contaminants from escaping while also providing ergonomic visibility into the cabinet. Also part of the Scope-Ready package is the Stand-Still™ isolation platform, which supports the microscope on the cabinet's work surface and reduces vibration by up to 300%. The Pure-Vu Seal and Stand-Still Platform work in concert to enssure containment and reduced vibration.
Cbinets featuring the Temp-Zone™ packagelude a temperature-controlled area on the work surface, where warm or chilled samples may be transferred and kept at an optimal and uniform temperature. Laser micro-etching outlines the Temp-Zone area on the work surface without sacrificing cleanability. Quick connection fittings on the left side of the cabinet attach to a user-supplied circulator that continually delivers chilled or heated liquid to the temp-zone area. Cole-Parmer reccomends the polystat® circulator 12123-50 or -55. Uniform temperature distribution is maintained on the surface of the cabinet. Easy-clean prop rods allow for hands-free elevation of the work surface for ease of cleaning and access to the channels and drain.
Nominal inflow velocity of air is 105 fpm (0.5 m/s), nominal downflow velocity of air is 55 fpm (0.3 m/s), resulting in approximately 70% air recirculation. All 3-, 4-, and 5-ft cabinets come standard with one service kit, which features a barbed hose tip with ball valve. The 6-ft cabinets come standard with two service kits. Cabinets come one clear blank (uncut) membrane and punch kit. All cabinets require a base stand; order separately.
