      A:

This pump has all HDPE wetted materials which is compatible with both Methyl Alcohol and Isopropanol. It has a D-Severe Effect rating with Acetone however so it would not be recommended for that mixture.

  • Q:

I would like to use this pump with a 20L carboy of Sodium Hypchlorite (12%). Will this corrode the pump and do you have a list of fittings that would secure it to the carboy?
Asked on 3/2/2011 by Britt from Saskatoon, SK

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Polyethylene is rated very well in terms of chemical compatibility with NaClO. It will not corrode the pump. As far as fittings are concerned, the pump uses, we should be able to convert the 1.5" outlet hose to whatever size you need to fit the carboy. • Q:

Is this pump suitable for sulfuric acid 95-97% concentration?
    Asked on 3/26/2010 by Tata

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

This pump has parts that are made of HDPE (high density polyethylene). Our chemical resistance charts tell us that sulfuric acid (75-100% concentration) has a "B" rating with HPDE. This means that there is a minor effect on the HDPE over the course of approximately 30 days. There may be some damage to the pump over the course of this time but it will be minimal. We do recommend that you select a pump made from materials that have an "A" rating with sulfuric acid (it has no effect on the material). These materials include PTFE, PVDF and PPS.

Please contact us for help in selecting the appropriate pump for your application. (Contact information can be found under the Contact Us section on our website)
