  • Q:

When it says max vacuum = 23.2" Hg which side is that scale referring to. Because if it starts at 0ft altitude that is 29.92 inches Hg meaning it can only have a maximu vacuum of up to around 7,000ft. For my application I need it to go to 14.95"Hg would that be possible with this pump?
    Asked on 6/10/2011 by Anonymous

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

All maximum vacuum specifications are given at sea level.
As a general “Rule of Thumb”, for every 1000 feet above sea level, the maximum
possible vacuum is reduced by approximately one in-Hg (0.491 psi). So, whatever the maximum listed is, you should be taking off 7 inches (23.2-7 = 16.2 "Hg), in this instance the ultimate vacuum of this pump would be appropriate.
