Garmin Global Positioning System (GPS) V

The GPS V delivers high accuracy, versatility, and portability. The unit uses WAAS (Wide-Area Augmentation System), a system of satellites and ground stations, to provide GPS signal corrections. WAAS corrects for ionospheric disturbances, timing and satellite orbit errors, and provides integrity information on each satellite — resulting in a 95% position accuracy of better than three meters.
Unit includes two information databases. The factory-installed Americas Autoroute basemap includes the United States, Alaska, Canada, and Central and South America. Easily locate oceans, rivers, lakes, and major streams of the United States.
The MapSource North America City Select CD-ROM provides full coverage for the contiguous United States and expanded coverage for Canada with trip and waypoint management functions. Detailed street-level maps contain turn restrictions, speed limits, and other navigation features.
Detailed mapping and automatic routing combine with a trip computer for easy-to-follow directions. Look up a location, and the GPS V automatically calculates a route with turn-by-turn directions and audible sounds to signal upcoming turns. Set the display horizontally when mounted to a bicycle or vehicle dashboard, or easily switch to a vertical display for handheld use.
A fully gasketed, high-impact plastic alloy housing meets the IEC 529 IPX7 waterproof standard. The unit requires four AA batteries, sold separately.
