The Spex® SamplePrep Genoseal™ semi-automatic heat sealer provides a permanent or peelable seal for deep-well, shallow-well, low-profile deep-well, filter, and assay plates that conform to the ANSI/SLAS standard format. The Genoseal operates using 400 W of heating elements that ensure high integrity sealing of almost any type of microplate. With so much available power, sealing times for most plates are five seconds or less. Sealed plates are automatically ejected from the unit when the sealing cycle has completed. The compact footprint means that the Genoseal will fit just about anywhere—lab bench or inside a fume hood, if required.
The Genoseal utilizes various heat seal films and foils to give either permanent or peelable seals for all common microplate material types such as polypropylene, polystyrene, and polyethylene. Seal times and seal temperatures are fully adjustable on the product via the control screen.
The included plate weights keep the seal flat before sealing and help prevent the plate from sticking to the heater block. The included plate locator allows for the plate skirt to sit around the corresponding locator and support the bottom of the plate. Various plate adapters are available for a variety of different types of microplates and support each cell individually to ensure the seal is even. These plate adapters are sold separately.
