Q:i have one of these thermometer and absolutely love it. I do have a problem as the battery died and we took it out to replace it and lost it. Can you please tell me what battery is required?
A:This item takes LR44 button batteries like 09377-16
A:357/303 by energizer

A:In addition to my previous answer about the battery - I was able to install it - there is a round clip like thing inside the cover the battery goes under it with the negative facing down - the battery number is facing you - either slide the battery under or remove the round clip with a forceps then place battery then the clip/retainer. It is a little tricky to push the plastic holder down - make sure you trim counter clockwise to close. My thermometer works again!
Q:How do you or can you calibrate the thermometer?
A:It can be calibrated against NIST standards using SKU# 17003-00; there is no adjustment capability on the meter.
Q:What is tip diameter at the end of stem ?
A:The diameter of the probe is about 3/16". It does come down to a piercing point at the tip but we do not have specifications on the tip since it changes. Plus, more than just contact needs to be made with the tip to get an accurate reading. This should be submerged at least 1/4" - 1/2"
