More About this Item

These luer fittings come in many configurations and several materials, joining tubing from 1/16” (1.6 mm) ID to 1/4” (6.4 mm) ID. The 500 series barb is composed of blended radii giving it a distinct look. Each barb is designed to accommodate a range of tube sizes and tube types. Consideration should be given to flow restriction, pressure capability, and the force required for assembly of the tube. Because the fittings are made to ISO standards that are well understood globally, it ensures proper interconnections and often removes the need to retrofit*.

Options include polycarbonate or polypropylene resin.

Polycarbonate is transparent and features high impact, chemical, UV, and electrical resistance. Sterilization is only recommended via ethylene oxide (EtO). Gamma radiation up to 10 Mrads is possible with minor loss of physical properties – it will discolor to a yellow-green hue. Autoclave is not recommended and may crack the fitting.

Polypropylene is clarified and produced without any animal derived components or phthalates. It can be sterilized using gamma radiation, Ethylene oxide (EtO), E-beam, or autoclave.

*Always test the application to verify the performance of the interconnection.
