BioBasic SEC (Size Exclusion Chromatography) columns are made with a mechanically rigid silica that does not swell or shrink with changes in solvent, providing higher efficiencies than polymer-based columns. The highly base-deactivated 5µm silica is polymer-coated to ensure separation only occurs on the basis of molecular size. Columns provide highly efficient separation of compounds with a molecular weight of 100 to 10,000,000.
Each lot of silica used in the production of BioBasic SEC columns is tested with a range of proteins to confirm accuracy. Each column is also tested for compliance with efficiency specifications and is shipped with a test certificate with both the column and silica efficiency data.
