These racks function as both storage and working tube holders, so you don't need extra racks taking up valuable space. Samples stay in one place, minimizing cross-contamination common when moving tubes from one rack to another. When hinges are collapsed, the rack fits standard 2" freezer racks, no special racking system required. When hinges are expanded, spacing between wells is wide enough to accommodate open hinged-lid tubes without obscuring tubes in the next row. Extra space between rows also makes it easier to differentiate between tubes, reducing errors in transferring and titrating.

Additional features include a locking lid to secure the rack in the storage configuration, a center depression in each well to stabilize conical-bottom tubes, and a cryogenic vial locking mechanism to enable one-handed cap removal.
