“The previous diaphragm pumps were the bane of our lives. Every Monday morning, we could guarantee that two or three of the pumps would need attention. Blockages around the ball valves and stalling air valves were a big problem. Since installing the hose pumps, we have had no problems. They run as regular as clockwork and are far more cost effective to operate.” – Plant Manager
A brick manufacturing company was using diaphragm pumps to pump pigment around bricks as part of a spraying/coating system. During this process, if the pigment is not continuously moving, it begins to settle and dry out. Because the diaphragm pumps were switched off during nonoperating hours or when the air compressors were shut down, the pigment dried causing blockages in the pumps. The pumps had to be stripped, cleaned, and reassembled on a regular basis.
To improve the situation, the brick manufacturer turned to Abaque Peristaltic Hose Pumps (item number 75810-04) for the pigment transfer application because these pumps can handle the toughest pumping challenges, including extremely abrasive and aggressive fluids, solid loaded liquids, as well as shear sensitive and viscous materials. Eight hose pumps were installed enabling continuous pump operation. The sealless design of the Abaque hose pump allows it to run dry continuously without adversely affecting the pump’s performance, pressure, and accuracy (no slip)..
The Abaque hose pumps have been in operation for two years and have exceeded the company’s expectations. The brick manufacturer has seen a large cost savings and operational efficiency and no longer needs expensive and inefficient air compressors or backup pumps. They also are experiencing continuous pumping and less downtime.
