Product Application Specialist - Vernon Hills, IL [e-mail resume] The Opportunity: This position provides technical support to internal and external customers in the form of recommendations of both catalog and non-catalog items. Investigates and assists in resolving credits, returns and/or quoting issues, utilizing in-depth knowledge of systems, policies and customers as well as various resources and tools made available to associate. Troubleshoots with and provides support to the various business units associated with Cole-Parmer, such as Davis, Oakton, Innocal and Fisher RMD, through telephone, fax, and email contact. Utilizes knowledge and experience to aid and improve the effectiveness of other departments. The Requirements: Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelors degree in science (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology) or a combination of education and experience required. 3 years previous work experience and familiarity with industrial instrumentation and calibration equipment Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria: 1. Must demonstrate aptitude to gain knowledge and mastery of test, measurement, control, calibration, and laboratory instruments and equipment. 2. Jr. Internet Developer Internship [e-mail resume] The Opportunity: Cole Parmer in Vernon Hills, IL is looking for a Junior Internet Developer to participate in a summer internship. This is a great opportunity for the successful individuals to participate in utilizing programming languages and software techniques to solve business issues. These individuals would be responsible for gathering requirements, designing, building code, testing code and documentation application modules to meet specific company business requirements. The Requirements: Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: 1. Must be working on a BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience. 2. Must have at least 200 classroom hours from an accredited college or 1.5 years of experience designing and building enterprise solutions with exposure to multiple software packages/vendors, programming languages and technology platforms. 3. Must have at least 100 classroom hours from an accredited college or 1 year of enterprise application development experience using Microsoft technologies (i.e. VB.NET, ASP.NET, ASP, VBScript, Visual Basic, COM+), markup languages (i.e. XML, HTML), client side scripting (JavaScript) and SQL. 4. Must have an understanding of database technology (i.e. Microsoft SQL Server, DB2). 5. Experience with Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP is a plus. 6. Proficiency with object-oriented design and implementation. Non-Negotiable Criteria: 1. In performing this primary duty, the Senior Marketing Communications Specialist position implements a comprehensive communication marketing program that supports this effort. The Requirements: Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelors degree in English, Journalism or Marketing Communications. Minimum of 5 years of experience in direct marketing/copywriting with a minimum of 3 years in technical writing. Experience in catalog and electronic media a plus. Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria: 1. Working in typical office environment 100% of time. IT Analyst [e-mail resume] The Opportunity: Cole-Parmer is currently seeking an IT Analyst to be based in Vernon Hills, Illinois. The successful candidate maintains and supports information systems including AS400 operations, AS400 operating systems, job scheduler, patches and minor RPG programming. Maintains and supports the AS400 applications, providing on-call support and working with users to resolve problems with existing systems. The Requirements: Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Minimum of two years of college coursework preferred college bachelors with computer science or business study 3-5 years in computer system operations with some experience in AS400 programming. Strong knowledge of the AS/400 environment, RPG IV, ILE, CL, DB2, subfile processing, query 400 and SQL. Knowledge of system infrastructure such as networks, security, server components, storage/backups, printers, capacity and performance management. Ability to develop and maintain system documentation such as standard operating procedures using MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of system development life cycle. Experience in Order Management, Supply Chain and Finance systems preferred. Must possess excellent planning and organizational skills to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver on time to tight deadlines. Must have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to anticipate and resolve problems. Able to use logic and a methodical process of problem solving which includes considering a variety of solutions. Must be able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced, team environment. Must be able to learn new technologies quickly with limited training. Able to use available resources to continuous learn and improve skills.
