Cole-Parmer offers an extensive line of overhead laboratory mixers and accessories to suit mixing requirements from lab to scale-up. Our full line of laboratory mixers includes analog, digital, and RS232 compatible lab mixers. See the table below for more detailed information on our entire line of lab mixers.
When considering your laboratory mixing needs, consideration has to be given to a wide range of factors including:
- Container capacity
- Liquid viscosity
- Torque
- Horsepower (hp)
- Rotational speed (rpm) and diameter of mixing propeller
- Duty cycle
- Power supply
For more information on these variables, check out our Laboratory Mixer Selection Guide for definitions and requirements. Our Parametric Search for Laboratory Mixers allows you to easily search our entire selection of mixers and returns those that fit your requirments. In addition to these requirements, the position of an overhead mixer in a laboratory vessel will create different mixing patterns and lead to different results. For more information on positioning a laboratory mixer in a vessel, see Positioning a Mixer in a Cylindrical Vessel.

Laboratory Mixer Selection Table
A laboratory mixer allows for mixing of smaller quantities of material, typically up to 100 gallons (380 liters). Lab mixers are capable of handling solutions with viscosities up to 150,000 cps, which is dependent on the torque, horsepower, and speed of the mixer. Laboratory mixers are also available with the following options:
- Speeds up to 10,000 rpm
- Through-shaft design for easy shaft and propeller adjustment
- Digital display of speed, torque, and timer functions
- Sample light for easy viewing during low light conditions
- Remote controller for easy adjustment from up to six feet away
- RS232 connectivity for easy data collection
