The membrane front panel is easy to use. Spring-loaded binding posts allow positive contact with the sensor. Sensor is made from gypsum, cast around two stainless steel electrodes. Bury the sensors at different levels, based on the plant's root depth. Connect the lead wires to the meter and get immediate readings of available soil moisture.
